Well we’re back again with a postponed event email. In an ideal world we’d not have to send this, however we find ourselves in a world that is less than ideal, so we’re doing what we can to ensure that the little bit of it that is Retro Rides events is as good as it can be. Whilst we were pretty sure that we’d be able to do an event in July, with the gradual relaxing of the lockdown measures, we were becoming a bit concerned that it wouldn’t be the quality of event we’d like to put on, however something would be better than nothing. In the mean time Goodwood have taken the decision to move the Revival to next year, which opens up weekends in September for us to run RR Weekender, with a bit more confidence and hopefully more clarity on what we’re allowed to do with mass gatherings, we figured it was a sensible move for us, the venue and the safety of the people attending. If the new date is unsuitable for you and you need a refund please email :firstname.lastname@example.org with “Retro Rides Weekender Refund” in the subject line.A reminder of what is going on!THE DISPLAYSAcceptable In The 80’s
Based on this Retro Rides Forum thread we want to see your 80’s cars and 80’s modifications. From B289 VWs to Ferrari F40s, from Gemballa Porsche 911s to backflash graphics and go faster stripes, we want it all. Apply in our Events System.
Stock Vs. CustomGot a wild custom or a totally bone stock pre-98 car? We want you and then we’ll try and match you up with your opposite to make for a display that celebrates car enthusiasm in all its forms..Classic Touring Car Racing ClubWe’re really excited to welcome the CTCRC to our event this year for the motorsports paddock. A great array of machinery will be on display from the mild to the wild.DeadlineCLUB AND NON-CLUB CARSOn the Sunday of the show we’ll have our Club Display Area, this is also booked in via the EVENTS SYSTEM. We are working to make adding yourself to a club stand a little more user friendly, so expect a follow up email about this in due course. However if you can already make your way through the system no club bookings will be lost.TRACK TIMEWe’ll be running the track on Saturday and Sunday, with Saturday using the sprint format again and Sunday with the Autosolo as it was so much fun last year.More details will be available soon, applications will start in August.THAT’S NOT ALLWe have big plans to add more to RR Weekender in 2020, with this Covid situation we’re still sitting on a few ideas as we want to be able to do them justice and need to know what we’re going to be allowed to do. So fingers crossed we get some clearer information from government soon and we can announce some extra awesomeness for RR Weekender.
