GTROC News – Our New Motor Sport Coordinator

It is with great pleasure that the GTROC announces today that Alan Akehurst will be taking over this position with immediate effect.

Mr Akehurst comes with all the necessary qualifications for this role having been an active member of the Club since he first joined us just after the GTROC was formed in November 2004.

Alan is often seen wearing a crew pass of various Racing Teams around his neck at many of the worlds well known circuits, as well as driving auto mobiles at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps & the Nurburgring. Rumour has it that he also likes to do this from two & four wheeled vehicles from his private garage too mixed in with the odd bit of drag / straightline racing!

In a nutshell Alan – & his wife Lex – who are also FIA Race Licence holders have a huge amount of experience & background in motorsports which will of course be brought to his new role for the Club & its members.

As mentioned before Alan’s private garage is an awesome place as he is equally at home on two wheels as well as four. His unique two wheeled creation is something of legend in certain circles as well as a machine few would dare ride full out. On the four wheeled side of his world, then you can check out his modified & pristine R33 Skyline GT-R & a R35 GT-R too!

Anyway, I’m sure the poor bloke has had enough of us talking about him so I am sure that you will all welcome him & offer your support for his new role. We would to thank & welcome Mr Akehurst for offering his help to the club & wish him all the luck & success for the future.

Alan replaces John Miskin who recently retired in his role as the GTROC track day coordinator. John was the organiser of the hugely successful Silverstone track days & being instrumental in coordinating special offers, tickets & social events with Nissan at UK & European motorsport events. John also assisted in many other areas of the GTROC & he tells us that he is looking forward to taking things easier & being part of the club as just as a member. The GTROC would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank John for all his recognised hard work & dedication and look forward to seeing him at future events.
